Older Simrad® autopilots can continue to operate with this alternative to the RFC35.
The Autonnic Compass Sensor uses fluxgate technology to provide the most accurate magnetic heading that meets the requirements of all onboard navigation screens and devices. The electronic compass is weatherproof, allowing an optimal installation position inside or outside the hull. The compass takes the magnetic heading and converts it into a digital signal for use by chartplotters, autopilots, AIS systems and other onboard electronic devices.
Simrad legacy compass
For boats with a legacy Simrad-Robertson autopilot, this compass is a special product to keep the pilot fully operational. The compass originally supplied may have become defective or damaged and since they are no longer made by Simrad, Autonnic has used the original Fluxgate sen-sor used in the RC35 heading sensor and designed electronics to generate the signals required by the autopilot.
