Since July 21, 2020, the 700 MHz, 1400 MHz and 2100 MHz frequency bands have been auctioned. The licenses for the 700 MHz band are subject to a coverage requirement and speed obligation. Commissioning of the 3.5 GHz band is now planned for 2023. No decision has yet been made for the 26 GHz frequency band.

From the end of July 2022, a coverage requirement and speed obligation will apply to licenses in the 700 MHz band for mobile communications outdoors. This means that mobile operators must ensure that at least 98% of the surface area of ​​each Dutch municipality provides outdoor mobile coverage with a minimum speed of 8 Megabits per second (Mbps). By 2026, this minimum speed must be 10 Mbps.
