Shakespeare's GALAXY INFL8-5 is the world's first emergency antenna with good performance. It is an inflatable antenna that can be quickly deployed via a CO2 cartridge or manual inflation and can be inflated up to 1.6m (5ft) to provide a full 3dB antenna with a range up to three times greater than any existing spiral emergency antenna. Thanks to the inflatable design, the antenna can be deflated and stored safely in the included storage bag until needed again.
The antenna can be mounted with Velcro straps, allowing quick and easy installation in all weather conditions on stanchions, support legs or other vertical structures on board. The antenna also features grommets on the top and bottom to facilitate hanging and securing to spreaders, masts, hardtops and other structures, even if the inflatable bladder becomes damaged.
The included connectors allow versatile connection options. The pre-soldered PL-259 connector allows direct connection to a fixed VHF radio or a handheld via the included SMA adapter. The package also includes a solder-free female UHF connector that allows the antenna to be spliced into existing coaxial cables on the boat.
